Hygiene in the kitchen [1]
Read the following advice on hygiene in your kitchen, which despite being simple and common, if it isn't followed faithfully could bring about problems to your health and other family members and who knows what else?
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds both before and after preparing any food.
Wash the kitchen counter, cutting boards, and knives with plenty of hot water and detergent after preparing a meal, especially if you have cut raw meat, poultry or seafood.
Never use a cutting board where you have cut raw meat or fish to chop vegetables and salads, unless having first washed it thoroughly with hot water and detergent.
Wash fruit and veggies with plenty of cold water.
Don't serve anything on a platter that you previously placed raw meat, poultry or fish unless thoroughly washing it first.
Put leftover food that you want to keep in the refrigerator or in the freezer within two hours. Don't leave it at room temperature for longer. (In the summer the time span drops down to one hour).
Check your refrigerator once a week and throw away leftovers that you haven't eaten. Don't eat food that was cooked more than 3 or 4 days earlier.
